I Have Forgiven Americans For Voting Racist Trump – Soyinka

Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, says he has forgiven Americans for electing former President Donald Trump whom he described as a “racist” and a “xenophobe”. Soyinka said this during an interview with Arise Television on Wednesday. The Nobel Laureate, who had in 2016 torn his American immigrant visa to shreds for voting Trump, said he would not be renewing the green card since he usually visits the United States even without it. Buhari, Trump Won’t Be Forgotten In A Hurry – Fayose

Former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose says President Muhammadu Buhari would not be forgotten in a hurry like the outgoing United States President Donald Trump Mr Fayose stated this in a series of tweets on Tuesday, hours before the end of Trump’s full day as president. He said Nigerians would remember Buhari just like Americans would recall the government of Trump with distaste. “As Americans look forward to the exit of Trump, Nigerians too cannot wait to see the exit of Buhari. The two can’t be forgotten in a jiffy. Buhari will be remembered like Trump because it is obvious that he is the low budget Trump when damages done to their countries are compared. “Everything that matters has been destroyed under the watch of Buhari. Joe Biden’s Inauguration In Pictures

Washington Biden's inauguration will mark the official start of his four-year term, and due to COVID and security concerns, will go ahead without much of the pomp and fanfare. In pictures: The inauguration of Joe Biden President-elect Joe Biden will take the oath of office on Wednesday, but it will be a scaled-down inauguration unlike any we've ever seen. The celebrations have been cut back because of the coronavirus pandemic, and Biden's inaugural committee — trying to keep crowds to a minimum — has urged Americans not to travel to Washington, DC. The National Mall will also be closed to the general public because of security concerns related to the January 6 storming of the US Capitol. Trump, Biden Fight Over The Raging Virus, Climate & Race In Final Debate

President Donald Trump and Democratic challenger Joe Biden fought over how to tame the raging coronavirus during the campaign’s closing debate, largely shelving the rancor that overshadowed their previous face-off in favor of a more substantive exchange that highlighted their vastly different approaches to the major domestic and foreign challenges facing the nation. The president declared the virus, which killed more than 1,000 Americans on Thursday alone, will “go away.” Biden countered that the nation was heading toward “a dark winter.” “Anyone who is responsible for that many deaths should not remain as president of the United States of America,” Biden said. With less than two weeks until the election, Trump portrayed himself as the same outsider he first pitched to voters fou...

Marathon races in Nigeria: Of what benefit?

In the early 1980s, down to the mid-90s, Nigerian athletes dominated sprint events, and were usually in the finals of the 100m and 200m at global championships. That was before Jamaican sprinters overpowered Americans in the short sprints. This was the era when Innocent Egbunike, Chidi Imoh, Olapade Adenikan, the Ezinwa brothers (Davidson and Osmond), Sunday Bada, Seun Ogunkoya, Francis Obikwelu, Deji Aliu, Olusoji Fasuba, Chioma Ajunwa, Mary Onyali, Falilat Ogunkoya, Fatima Yusuf, Tina Iheagwam, Faith Idehen, Beatrice Utondu, Mary Tombiri, Christy Okpara-Thompson, Mercy Nku, Endurance Ojokolo and Gloria Alozie were the ‘kings and queens’ of the track. OPEC Cuts, Stable Equity Markets Push Oil Price to $58

Crude oil prices climbed for a fifth session in a row to hit $58 yesterday, rallying from last December 2018’s 18-month low, thanks to the production cuts by the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and more stable equity markets. While the global benchmark, Brent crude oil was up $1 at $58.06 per barrel, having touched a session high of $58.90, the United States crude was up 88 cents at $48.84 a barrel. James Rodriguez Ruled Out Of England-Colombia Clash

James Rodriguez will miss out for Colombia while Dele Alli is back for England as Gareth Southgate has named the same XI he picked against Tunisia for the Three Lions last-16 match.
