COVID-19: Dangote Donates Lab Capable Of 400 Tests A Day To Kano

Billionaire Aliko Dangote has donated a mobile laboratory able to handle 400 samples daily to augment the testing capacity in Kano state. Governor Abdullahi Ganduje revealed this on Saturday during a press briefing organised by the state taskforce on covid-19 which took place at the Africa House in Kano. United Nations Secretary-General, António Guterres, has appointed Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, president of the African Development Bank, Akinwumi Adesina, and 25 others to lead the fight against global malnutrition. This was contained in a statement by the Scaling Up Nutrition SUN Movement, an initiative of the UN Secretary-General launched in 2010. According to the movement, one in three people suffer from malnutrition the world over and 149 million girls and boys are stunted, hence the job of the global leaders would be to support country-led efforts to scale up nutrition and to deliver for girls, boys and their families to ensure a world free from malnutrition by 2030. Aliko Dangote, president of Dangote Group, will own 50,000 cows by 2019, and produce 500 million litres of milk per year. The group, principally owned by Africa’s richest man, plans to invest $3.8 billion in sugar and rice and $800 million in dairy production in the next three years.
