Buhari Not Against Card Reader – Omo Agege

Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege has said that President Muhammadu Buhari is not against having the Card Readers embedded in law. Omo-Agege made the remark on Saturday while speaking with newsmen in Orogun, Ughelli North Local Government Area (LGA) of Delta. The senator who represents Delta Central at the National Assembly said lawmakers would addressed the card readers issue in the 9th Assembly. “The challenge the president had at that time was the ECOWAS Protocol, it came very late. “You cannot make fundamental change in your electoral law six months to the election, otherwise Mr president was not against the spirit of the letters in that amendment,” he said. Presidential Poll: No Regret Working Against Buhari – Ohanaeze

National Publicity Secretary of Ohanaeze, Uche Achi-Okpaga, has said that the apex Igbo organisation has no regret on its stand against the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari. Speaking on the president’s victory at the just concluded presidential poll, Achi-Okpaga, told VINCET KALU, that the organisation doesn’t owe anybody apology over its position, and that if another opportunity comes, it will still do the same as the president doesn’t place premium on the Igbo. Is Ohanaeze disappointed over the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari in last Saturday’s poll? I want to come form a different angle. We have done what we needed to do as Nigerians; the rest is left for God and humanity. The election has come and gone, and what follows are the intricacies of the politicians....

DSS Warns Public Against Dealing With Sacked DG, Daura

The Department of State Services (DSS), in what appears to be a disclaimer, yesterday warned members of the public against dealing with former Director General (DG) of the Service, Lawal Daura. Daura, who was the DG between 2015 and 2018, was sacked by the then acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, for authorising the invasion of the National Assembly by personnel of the DSS last year. The DSS in a statement also cleared the air on the assumption in some quarters that Daura, though dismissed from the service, still wields a lot of influence over the operations of the DSS. It warned that the assumption is not only false, adding that those dealing with him in any capacity do so at their own risk. “The attention of the Department of State Services (DSS) has been drawn to insinuatio...

Any Member Of APC Working Against Our Success Will Fail – Osinbajo

The Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, on Tuesday reacted to the violence that rocked the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign rally held in Ogun State on Monday. Mr Osinbajo said any member of the APC working against the success of the party in the forthcoming general elections is like ”a bad cutlass with one (sharp) edge”. Mr Osinbajo stated this during a town hall meeting held at the palace of the traditional ruler of Ago Iwoye, Abdulrazak Adenugba, in the course of his campaign tour to the state. A campaign rally organised by the APC for President Muhammadu Buhari in the state on Monday turned violent when thugs hurled stones and sachet water in the direction of seated dignitaries. Signing Of Petition Against The Impeachment Of Governor Ambode Begins

With news of the moves to impeach Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, Governor of Lagos State, there is no doubt that the future of our beloved Lagos State is at stake. For the first time since 1999, Lagos is entering the second month of a new year without an approved budget. There are several completed projects awaiting commissioning, and several more ongoing ones that are being slowed down. This petition is by concerned people of Lagos State. The cabals behind the continued harassment and embarrassment of outgoing Governor Ambode need to be opposed, and told enough is enough. This is starting to look like a throwback to the days of President Obasanjo, when unfair and illegal impeachment actions brought Governors down, just because they were not in the good books of their godfathers. This is not abo...

British MPs Overwhelmingly Vote Against Brexit Deal

British lawmakers defeated Prime Minister Theresa May’s Brexit divorce deal by a crushing margin on Tuesday, triggering political upheaval that could lead to a disorderly exit from the EU or even to a reversal of the 2016 decision to leave. Parliament voted 432-202 against her deal, the worst parliamentary defeat for a government in recent British history. Scores of her own lawmakers – both Brexiteers and supporters of EU membership – joined forces to vote down the deal, New Telegraph reports. With the clock ticking down to March 29, the date set in law for Brexit, the United Kingdom is now ensnared in the deepest political crisis in half a century as it grapples with how, or even whether, to exit the European project that it joined in 1973. May’s crushing loss, the first Brit...

Nigerian Military Struggles Against Islamic State In West Africa – Reuters

Islamist militants have killed hundreds of soldiers in attacks in northeastern Nigeria in recent weeks, security and military sources say, forcing a turnaround in the course of an insurgency which the government has frequently claimed to have vanquished. The fatigued, ill-equipped government troops have reached breaking point, they said. The setback in the war against Islamic State in West Africa (ISWA) and the Boko Haram insurgency from which it split in 2016 comes as President Muhammadu Buhari seeks a second term in elections next February. Buhari came to power in 2015 on a promise to defeat Boko Haram, and security has once again emerged as a main campaign issue. In the past three weeks, according to military and security sources, ISWA killed 48 soldiers at a military ba...

If you been paying attention to the news lately following the horrific incident at Parkland High School a couple weeks ago, you probably seen that politicians & our very own President thinks it would be a good idea to arm the teachers in schools to prevent future school shootings from happening. On Monday, TMZ caught up with Vic out in West Hollywood, where he voiced his opinion on the idea of teachers carrying guns at school. “Giving guns to teachers is absolutely asinine. It’s so backwards, it’s like anyone saying that clearly never been to a public school, and it’s all just a diversion from big money lobbyist with the NRA,” Vic said. The Roc Natio...

Even with photo evidence of a very bloody face and fractured skull this person didn’t think it was enough reason for the actress to speak out against her husband and how he’d treated her. . . . This right here is why many women die in their homes. And I blurred out her name because she’s also a victim and shaming her won’t change much. Also good to note that they're selling the Nigerian used version for 1.8m 1. Will prices fall or will they continue with the excuse of "You can see the price of dollar is h...

Dasuki had prayed the court to consolidate the two charges against him so as not to suffer double jeopardy. The judge said the applicant has not shown to the court that he had been tried or convicted on the same offence before any other court. He further held that the fear of double jeopardy was not substantiated because trials in the two charges had not fully started. ...
