Kaduna 2023: El-Rufai’s anointed candidate, possible consensus of PDP revealed
The Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai has picked Senator representing Kaduna Central District, Uba Sani as his preferred candidate in the forthcoming 2023 governorship election.
The development followed a decision reached after a parley with aspirants under the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC and other stakeholders of the party in the state.
Those who attended the meeting include the Deputy Governor of the state, Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe; the SSG, Balarabe Abbas Lawal; the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Yusuf Zailani; the Senator representing Kaduna Central, Uba Sani; former Chief of Staff to the Governor Sani Dattijo, among few other trusted stakeholders.
Former chief of staff to the Governor, Sani Dattijo who earlier declared to run for the political office in the state, withdrew from the race after the meeting.
Dattijo disclosed this in a message he forwarded to his campaign team on Wednesday, saying he has accepted the governor’s position.
The message reads, “We met for about three hours. Everyone consented to allow Mallam’s decision to prevail. He has chosen Uba as the flag bearer.
“We need to accept this as the will of Allah SWT and avoid any unnecessary back talk. Let’s see how to manage our supporters amicably”.
DAILY POST reports that Uba may be running against a former lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani who is also vying for the governorship ticket under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
