Mark Zuckerberg Denies Fake News On Facebook Had Impact On The Election

Mark Zuckerberg says the notion that fake news influenced the U.S. presidential election is "a pretty crazy idea." The Facebook CEO is finding himself in a unique position in this election cycle. Many news organizations have come under fire for their coverage of the campaign. Now Facebook is getting it too, as a modern media company that does not vet fake news from its News Feed and that, critics argue, allows users to stay in information bubbles that reinforce existing prejudices. He says hoaxes existed before his platform was created. They aren't new, and people who say misinformation is why Donald Trump won simply do not get it. "There's a profound lack of empathy in asserting that the only reason why someone could have voted the way that they did is because they saw some fake new...

The Sad News Of Trump’s Triumph, By Reuben Abati

“Democracy is tricky; it sometimes ends up as a parody of itself. When the people clamour for change, they can vote with their hearts, and prove impervious to plain sight reason, and overlook likely pitfalls. We can only hope that Donald Trump does not become the symbol of the change that Americans are seeking. That would be sad indeed for the free world.” – Reuben Abati, “Anything Can Happen in America”, The Guardian, March 6, 2016. The former governor said even Donald Trump who just won the US election knows that infrastructure drives growth, as stated in his inaugural speech. “In the last decade or so, we experienced growth in the region of about seven, seven and a half, eight percent, but the commentary that followed those growth records was that people were still struggling, and ultimately, the public coined a narrative known as non-inclusive growth,” he said. “There is a need to invest...

“Not My president’: Thousands Protest Trump In Rallies Across The U.S.

Demonstrations and vigils protesting the election of Donald Trump spread across the country late Wednesday and early Thursday, as thousands of people rallied against the president-elect in cities from coast to coast. Condemning Trump's litany of crude comments about women and his attacks on immigrants, demonstrators marched along city streets, blocked intersections, burned effigies and, in some places, gathered outside buildings bearing Trump's name. “Not my president,” chanted some of the protesters, while others waved signs with the same message. Trump previously said he woul...

All the preloaded apps on an iPhone come from Apple. 39 out of 47 preloaded apps on Windows 10 phones come from Microsoft. But less than a third of preloaded apps on Samsung’s Galaxy S7 come from Google. So what’s the big deal? Extending the point beyond apps, Google argues that it’s impossible for Android to have a market monopoly when the iPhone exists. ...
