Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher, has admitted that the team still lacks “real creativity” in midfield.
Carragher stated this following the Reds’ 1-0 defeat at Atletico Madrid in the Champions League last-16 first leg on Tuesday.
Saul Niguez’s early strike was enough for the LaLiga side to seal a narrow win.
Liverpool failed to get a shot on target and Carragher believes it typifies their problems in the middle.
He told ViaSport: “Well it was a really frustrating night for Liverpool. We knew how Atletico would play, Jurgen Klopp knew.
“Liverpool didn’t get too frustrated but they couldn’t create anything, they don’t have real creativity, certainly in midfield. That’s always been a problem.”
