Azpilicueta Becomes The 99th Spaniard To Score In The Champions League

After 35 games in the major European competition, the Chelsea defender saw his header find the back of the net for his first ever goal in the tournament.

It’s been almost 25 years since Guillermo Amor scored the first Spanish goal in the competition, against the Norwegian side Viking.

Since then, Spaniards have celebrated 543 goals, while 99 of the 304 footballers from the country who played at least one minute have connected with the net, making Spain the third country in terms of goals scored by nationality, after Brazil and France.
