Oil Tanker Explodes in Lagos

A tanker explosion has occurred on both lanes around Toyota bus-stop inwards Mile 2, along Oshodi-Apapa expressway. The tanker was fully loaded with fuel at the time it exploded. Fire service arrived at the scene to put out the fire. Giving an update on Twitter moments later, the Federal Fire Service said, "Update:The tanker fire situation at Toyota Bus stop, along Oshodi Apapa Expressway, Lagos State has been brought under control."

At least fourteen persons were killed in an accident along Lokoja-Obajana road in Kogi State on Wednesday afternoon, January 6. 1664 new cases of COVID19 were recorded in Nigeria on Wednesday, January 6. According to the Nigeria Center for Disease Control NCDC, Lagos recorded 642, the highest for the day while the FCT recorded 407 fresh cases. Other states with fresh cases include Plateau-160, Kaduna-83, Rivers-62, Adamawa-47, Nasarawa-38, Abia-29, Edo-28, Anambra-27, Niger-24, Ogun-24, Imo-15, Oyo-14, Kano-12, Osun-12, Borno-9, Delta-7, Enugu-7, Bauchi-5, Ekiti-5, Sokoto-5 and Jigawa-2. Suspected South African drug lord, Yaganathan Pillay, popularly known as Teddy Mafia, has been shot dead. He was 59. Reports said Pilay was shot twice in the head at his home in Shallcross, south of Durban on Monday afternoon. He died shortly after arriving at Chatsmed hospital in Chatsworth. After the shooting, two alleged hitmen were beheaded and their bodies burnt on Taurus Street in Shallcross, south of Durban. 1204 new cases of COVID19 were recorded in Nigeria on Monday, January 4. According to the Nigeria Center for Disease Control NCDC, Lagos recorded 654 cases while FCT recorded 200 fresh cases. Other states with fresh cases include Plateau-60, Kaduna-54, Kano-40, Rivers-30, Edo-28, Nasarawa-25, Kebbi-19, Bauchi-18, Oyo-13, Akwa Ibom-12, Bayelsa-11, Ogun-11, Delta-9, Abia-8, Benue-5, Imo-3, Borno-2, Sokoto-1 and Osun-1.
