Despite the fact that, historically, the cup is the competition with which the Catalans have made their bad years in the league more bearable – they are the King of Cups with 29 – they have never managed to win it four years consecutively.
That record has only been achieved by two teams in history, both at the time when television had not even arrived in Spain: Real Madrid (1905-1908) and Athletic Club (1930-1933).
For Barcelona, this will mean the second time in its more than 100 years of history in which it will try to win four consecutive trophies.
In 1954, after winning the Cups of 51, 52 and 53, they lost the final in Chamartin against Valencia (3-0).
A matter of pride
For the Catalans, being four-time cup champions is already a matter of pride.
The other two clubs that have already achieved this are, like Barcelona, the only teams who have never been relegated.
To be victorious at the Estadio Wanda Metrolitano is to continue making history for the club.
