Facilities Destroyed During Riots Won’t Be Rebuilt By My Administration – Umahi

Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State, at the weekend, said that any facility that he had built but destroyed during the EndSARS protests would not be rebuilt by his administration. He said that the people should rather protect them. Umahi stated this while inspecting the various public facilities, including police stations and others, destroyed by hoodlums. He told the people to always protect all government facilities in their areas as they were built with their money, warning those using the protests to unleash mayhem to have a rethink. Governor Umahi Suspends Ebonyi Auditors-General Indefinitely

Ebonyi state's auditor-general, Innocent Nweda and the Auditor General for local government in the state, George Ukpai have been suspended indefinitely by Governor David Umahi. Secretary to the State Government(SSG) Kenneth Ugbala who made the announcement, said the auditors were suspended for failing to carry out their duties. They were accused of failing to prepare and produce the annual audited accounts of the State and Local government. While Nweda was asked to hand over to the next most senior officer in rank, Governor Umahi asked Dr U. A. Udu to take over as Acting Auditor General for local government until further notice.

Governor Umahi Lifts Ban On Religious Gatherings In Ebonyi State

Governor David Umahi on Friday lifted the ban on religious gathering in Ebonyi State. He said religious centres can now conduct services once a week but must observe the prevention protocol against COVID-19. The state’s Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Uchenna Orji, announced the governor’s decision in a statement on Friday. Mr Umahi had declared the ban last month to check the spread of the novel coronavirus in the state. Despite the ban and other measures including the closure of the state boundaries, Ebonyi still recorded nine cases of the virus.
