The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has responded after the owner of a Shawarma store was arrested by their staff  and detained in a cockroach-infested cell over a misunderstanding. Ato Mnena Anita was arrested alongside her workers on May 6 and her eatery, in Makurdi, Benue state, was shut down. She was then charged with "attempted fraud" after being detained. According to Ato, her arrest was effected by a female staff of EFCC over 1,600 Naira. The female customer had bought goods worth #1,500 but paid #1,600 into the business' account. As they were expecting #1,500 from her, they had no idea that the #1,600 was from her and they called her to demand payment. 71-Yr Old Man, 10 Others Arrested For Diverting And Selling N40m Goods For N5m

A 71-year old man, Peter Othormor, and 10 others have been arrested by operatives of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, FSARS, Lagos Island, Lagos, for allegedly diverting goods worth N40 million - entrusted in their care to deliver to a customer in Abuja - to Ibadan to sell. The suspects were arrested while offloading the goods for the alleged buyer, Abass Buhari, from Kaduna State for N5 million. Other suspects involved in the alleged crime include Lawal Yusuf, 61; Adewale John, 43, Ebuka Agubosin, 29, Abdulraman Abdulmalik, 37; Waheed Adewale, 48; Kehinde Okiki, Semiu Sanni and Raheem Lawal who are conductors.
