Check Out Inside The Lagos Slum Where Land Is Allocated At N2k & Residents Live In Dirt

Life at Mosquito village, a slum in Lagos state, is disgusting, brutal, weird, ephemeral, yet entertaining. The residents live in the cozy embrace of the filth surrounding them like the walls of Jericho — but life must go on. Their reality is gloomy but with daily doses of jest, they wade through the murky waters of their world. TAIWO ADEBULU, who visited the small community, reports. That foggy evening, the cloud of filthy smoke enveloped the alley of the sprawling shanties on the swampy piece of land stretching along the shores of a tributary of the Lagos lagoon. As an unknown figure sauntered into their community, the women frying assorted snacks stared frigidly, with curiosity plastered on their faces. With one hand, a restless young woman scooped the buns from the simmering vegetable...

State Of Origin: Taking Undue Advantage Breeds Revolt

We have to find ways to reduce resentments that have nearly reached a combustible stage. Creation of states is to give most groups a say in running their own affairs. Unfortunately, people still cry marginalization if northern part of that state is getting a bigger pie than the central or the southern part. In order to relieve most of these resentments, more states were created. Some of these states are not only unviable, they are glorified local governments. People have metamorphosized from accommodation to tolerance and finally to resentment if they cannot enjoy opportunities meant for indigenes in their part of the state. It becomes even worse, no matter how small the state, if the resources from their area is used to cater for other areas while they feel neglected. In the case of reso...

If we were to play against Japan again now, it would be a totally different story. We wouldn’t make it so easy for them this time." Nevertheless, the African side must now deal with the burden those six strikes have placed on their goal difference. Things looked similarly ominous when Gabrielle Carle gave Canada the lead 15 minutes into Nigeria’s second ...
