Manchester United and Argentine international Sergio Romero has asked to be released by Club to move to the Major league Soccer.
Romero’s chances of playing time died out when loanee Dean Henderson returned from his spell with Sheffield United.
Romero was heavily linked with a move to Everton but did not happen as fans expected it to be a deadline day transfer but signed Roma’s keeper Robin Olsen instead as United demanded a high price.
As first reported by the Sun, Romero is happy to leave the premier league Giants without a £1.5million pay out fee which he will be owed to secure a move to the United States.
And this angered the Keepers wife who took to social media to voice out her fustrations, she wrote in an Instagram post”‘It is a very sad day because he desired the chance to go to another club.
He has worked hard every day for this, because he gives his all for United and I think that his chances of playing for United have gone down.
This doesn’t sound right to me. It doesn’t appear honest or professional or serious that they have to let him go. I am very sad because of this.’
Furthermore, ESPN have reported that Romero’s team-mates at Manchester United are angry at the club for the way they have treated their third-choice goalkeeper and that he deserves better following five years of service at the club.
Romero who played his last league game against Watford at home in the final day of the 2017/18 season and that rose his number of Manchester United appearance to seven.
Romero has featured in 67 matches and 12 of them coming in the 2017 Europa league which Manchester United won after beating Ajax on the Finals, he has 39 clean sheets and has conceded just 27 goals.
His contract extends to 2021, United needs to Offload their 3rd choice or risk losing him for free.
