Bayer Leverkusen’s Kai Havertz seems to be on his way to Chelsea, according to his Germany National team teammate and Bayern Munich’s newest signing, Leroy Sane.
Kai Havertz has become one of the biggest names in the current transfer window. With Timo Werner already joining Chelsea and Jadon Sancho looking very likely to join Manchester United, Havertz seems to be joining the others in England, and specifically at Chelsea.
Even though the German attacking-midfielder had been linked with Bayern Munich as well, it seems that Chelsea is going to be his likely destination.
Especially when his Germany National Team partner Leroy Sane has revealed that he will be off to Chelsea.
In his introductory press conference as a Bayern Munich player, Sane said in German as translated by Raphael Honigstein:
The question was: “why are German footballers in demand by EPL clubs right now, with Werner to Chelsea and Havertz said to be close.”
The answer was: “Always good players in Germany. This year, it’s Werner and Havertz… I think Chelsea have maybe got in there.”
The 21-year-old was reportedly set to ask his current club to allow him to make the move to Stamford Bridge upon his return to training this week.
The transfer fee is expected to be in the region of £90 million with £63 million being paid upfront and the rest coming in add-ons.
The Blues have already spent £53 million on Werner and £37.8 million on Hakim Ziyech but Frank Lampard is keen to make the talented youngster his next signing.
